Terms of Service

These Terms apply when you use OpenChair to book a dental appointment or list appointment availability through a participating dental practice.

legal.terms.service-scope · version 2

OpenChair is a booking platform. We display appointment times that participating dental practices have made available and let you reserve one of them. Any OpenChair booking fee that applies is shown before your booking is confirmed. We are not a dental practice, we do not provide dental care, and we do not decide whether the care you receive is appropriate. The treating practice is responsible for the dental care it provides.

legal.terms.eligibility · version 1

You must be 18 or older to hold an OpenChair account. Appointments for a minor are booked through a parent or legal guardian’s account.

legal.terms.not-emergency-care · version 2

OpenChair is not an emergency medical service. If you are having trouble breathing or swallowing, uncontrolled bleeding, severe facial or jaw trauma, or swelling spreading toward your eye or throat, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. OpenChair may display appointments for urgent dental needs when participating practices make those times available. Booking reserves the appointment time you select; it does not guarantee immediate treatment or get you seen sooner than the time you booked.

legal.terms.booking-fees · version 2

The booking fee depends on how close to today the appointment falls, and the exact amount is shown to you before you confirm. It is charged per booking and it does not carry over to another appointment. It is separate from what the practice charges for treatment. Whether the booking fee is returned to you depends on when you cancel — see the cancellation terms below.

legal.terms.cancellation · version 3

Cancelling within 24 hours of your appointment costs $50.00, on top of the booking fee you already paid, which is not returned. Not showing up costs $50.00. If you are marked as a no-show and disagree, you can dispute it within 24 hours; OpenChair reviews the dispute and its decision is final. Rescheduling to a date closer to today charges the full booking fee for the new date, with no credit for what you paid before; rescheduling to a date further out charges nothing and refunds nothing. If the practice or OpenChair cancels your appointment, or the practice does not attend, you are refunded in full and owe no fee. The fee amounts in force when you booked apply to that booking and are shown to you before you pay.

legal.terms.grace-window · version 3

If you cancel within 15 minutes of booking, any OpenChair charges for that booking are refunded and no cancellation fee applies. This 15-minute window is measured from when you booked, so it applies even when the appointment itself is less than 24 hours away. The fee amounts in force when you booked apply to that booking and are shown to you before you pay.

legal.terms.membership · version 1

Membership costs $5.99 a month, renews monthly until you cancel, and waives the booking fee on appointments you book while it is active. It does not waive the cancellation fee or the no-show penalty.

legal.terms.dependents · version 3

You may book an appointment on behalf of a minor child or legal dependent for whom you are the parent or legal guardian. The dependent has no account of their own, and every fee for that appointment is charged to you. The practice sees the dependent’s first name and age so they know who is coming; their date of birth is not shared. You remain responsible for the booking and its fees.

legal.terms.provider-subscription · version 4

Registering as a provider or a clinic is free. A monthly subscription is required to publish an appointment for booking, at $500.00 a month on the SOS tier or $850.00 a month on the Full Partner tier. The SOS tier publishes emergency availability within after-hours and weekend windows; the Full Partner tier publishes on any schedule and receives priority placement in same-day search results. It renews monthly until cancelled. An individual provider is responsible for their own licence, credentials, and the accuracy of the appointments they publish; the clinic is responsible for its facility and how the practice is run. OpenChair takes no share of what you charge for treatment. When a provider’s affiliation with a clinic ends, no new times are published under that clinic and unbooked times are withdrawn. Confirmed appointments stand until the practice or OpenChair cancels them, in which case the patient is refunded in full.

legal.terms.reviews · version 2

After a completed appointment you can review the provider and the clinic. Reviews are public, and your first name is published with them. A practice can reply publicly and can flag a review for us, but cannot remove it. OpenChair reserves the right to remove or edit reviews that contain personal health information, identify another patient or a member of staff, are fraudulent or defamatory, or that break the law; our decision to remove or keep a review is final. Do not include specific diagnoses, treatment details, prescription information, or anything that could identify another patient — a review that does may be removed without notice.

legal.terms.availability · version 2

OpenChair currently supports participating practices in the United States and is available in English only. Appointment availability varies by market and by participating practice. If you are travelling outside the United States you may not be able to book a new appointment, and you can still cancel or reschedule one you already have.

OpenChair books dental appointments. It is not a dental practice and does not provide care.
